Remo PTS heads for kits Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Does anybody know if you can still get replacement PTS heads for remo's PTS drumsets? I'm thinking of picking up a few of these drums while they are cheap to replicate one of Louie Bellson's kits and it would be nice to have some decent heads on them.(decent meaning new) Does Remo offer them still on a special order basis?

I can't recall what we did for Dan's PTS, if we had to buy special heads or if they were standard/ Seems the head sat in a special frame that was clipped on, already tuned, and we did not have to mess with them, once all the tuning was done. I am thinking the frame took standard heads. It WAS a long time ago....like the early 80s....

I've seen a couple for sale on ebay, but not enough of them to do a whole kit. I'm pretty sure they were not regular heads in a frame. They did have their own part numbers at one time....

The PTS heads are a one piece metal rim with the head made into it..Per tuned you just had to put them on the drum and lock down the claws/lugs..I think you can still special order them from Remo but iam not sure..I do have some N.O.S PTS heads i would have to check the sizes i know i don't have any bass drum heads...I have also seen these PTS drums with the head cut from the rim and a new head put on the drum with the old rim and claw set-up...Mikey
