Ok never had any Ludwigs before this kit in any pearl wraps there is alot of blue in this wrap they were made in 1988 my question is are they WMP or sky blue pearl... when i hold up a piece of vintage WMP next to them they are very blue .. I know they offered WMP in 88 and nor sure about SBP.... I will take a picture with the piece of WMP next to them for comparison.. maybe it is just the newer WMP wrap from the 80's that has more of a blueish hue to it... ?

Ok here is a comparison between the two the WMP piece is the vintage WMP from Precision drums and new WMP is even whiter... maybe i am just seeing things but the ludwig looks alot darker is this common to this wrap/ thanks all Merry Christmas....

From what I remember, Ludwig's "White Marine Pearl" was different from the others, in that its pattern had more of a parallel effect (like on your drums) vs. the others' more of a random diamond effect (like your example from Precision). That was just Ludwig.

The Sky Blue Pearl would be much more blue (or grey) than what is on your drums.

I think we're all just too used to seeing the older, yellowed version of this wrap - pattern does resemble the sky blue though. Nice looking kit.

Personally, I love the slight blue hue to your wmp wrap. Beautiful!

I know that they're not a vintage drum company, but interestingly enough, SJC Custom drums offers a form of WMP that has a blue tint to it and they call it "Sky Blue Diamond." (See the link below and scroll down to "Pearls/Diamonds/Vintage"

http://sjcdrums.com/finishes/

You can really see the bluish presence between it and the other WMP wraps that they offer ("Aged White Pearl" and "White Diamond").

The other finish, "Old School Blue Pearl" seems to match more of the color and tonality of what many brands often describe as "sky blue." Different wraps and names abound for sure!!

Anyway, enjoy your wrap - it's awesome!
