Thanks Tommy, your such a nice guy. Unfortunately work is so bad right now I could not afford the shipping. But I will remember this and some time down the road I would like to have you do it. I mean who knows these snare better then you, no one! I really admire your knowledge, I think you have the coolest band and your just a great guy all around.

And of course I would like to pay you for the work or trade something.

Thank you!!!

Thank you!

On my Spitfire with the TDR, one problem that seems common, is the little piece of Rubber Surgical Tubing aging, crumbling, then the Strainer doesn't work.

A little tricky dealing with the small C-Clip, but doable with patience.

BTW Tommy, thanks for again sharing the lovely pics of your TDR in WMP. Drool over that one, wanted such for a long long time to go in with the Barrett Set.

A few years ago one did pop upon the Bay, was willing to pay the handsome price, and the seller jerked me not once, but twice by backing out of the sale, and transferring back my paypal payment to me. Won't give a name, but he really "Goaded" me along on that one.

I have another mint TDR, that one in 5x14 COB, that one came from Steve Maxwell about 14 years ago at one of the shows. That one has yet to develop the Rubber Tubing issue, but now know what to do. It was Carl Wenk (Drcjw) who helped me get the Spitfire back up and running. Sent him a couple pairs of NOS Densiwood Sticks as a thanks.

Bass drum and whole kit sounds awesome!

That flimsy riser would drive me nutty, I can't really groove if my stuff is wiggling around to much but at least he was on his own island. It's even worse when you're on a connected riser platform with horn players tapping their feet or moving around wrong to the beat, can be distracting to say the least when playing with mediocre players :D

Jeff!, MarkD!, Gary!,...

Jeff! THANKS for all the very kind words! I can't lie,... when it comes to BR and all his drums/hardware/endorsements, yeah... I have spent decades researching and collecting this stuff. Glad you enjoy! Also, PLEASE DO send me your drum when you are able. I suspect that you might end up playing it a lot more than you do currently! They are really nice articulate snare drums with TONS of projection. I think you might like! And again, absolutely NO CHARGE!!! THANKS Jeff!

MarkD! So true on that little piece of surgical tubing! They do indeed literally disintegrate over time. I was just blown away when I found this particular Slingerland BR/TDR, and for many reasons: The fact that it was 1st run/build .. ( 1973/74 ) .. had no tone control, StickChoppers, the little piece of tubing was INTACT!, and was in WMP. Truly a BR model through and through. Added bonus is the drum plays and sounds fantastic, as not all of them do. Unfortunate that the seller on that BR/TDR you were dealing on was so unprofessional. These are pretty difficult to find today in THIS year/build/configuration, and with a perfect TDR strainer/butt! Hopefully you may still find one, but the "Spitfire" is nice in it's own right. The Louie Bellson model it was, and with 12 lugs I believe, yes? THANKS Mark!

Gary! THANKS for the nice words! As mentioned, decades of researching this stuff... then collecting all the snare drums as you saw at the Chicago Show .. so .. a BR thread will almost always flush me out of the brush! LOL! THANKS Gary!
