When looking at Camco drums on Ebay one has to know what to look for when determining why one might sell high and another sells low. There are many factors to weigh in. Just because it carries the name Camco doesn't necessarily mean it's worth big bucks. Camco made in the Oaklawn era are worth the most and are the most sought after yet even in the Oaklawn era, not all are equated equal. If the drum is a 3 or 4 ply w/ COB hoops and in a rare finish like 3D-Moire then that will command about the highest one could hope to get in Camco drums. Of course condition and sizes comes into play as well but that's the basic idea.

1959 George Way Green Sparkle 22/12/16 w/5.5x14
1961 George Way Blue Sparkle 20/12/15
1961 George Way Jelly Bean 20/12/14 w/4.5x14
1960’s Camco Oaklawn Champagne 20/12/14/16w/5x14
1971-73 Camco Chanute Walnut 24/14/18 w/5x14 COB

I think Camco is highly regarded, & has a long history of holding their value compared to any of the major American makers, if not more, than some. (I'd have to see a long term, systematic chart to be convinced that they command less on a regular basis)

I would think that a Camco Oakland badge 20/12/14 with matching snare in excellent condition would fetch as much or more than a Gretsch round badge set in the same shape. If nothing else you could be sure that Remo ambassador heads will fit on your Camcos!

I sold my Camco Oaklawn BDP Aristocrat 20/12/14 w/ matching snare a couple of years ago in a bad market for $4300.

From Fuse

Yeah, what's weird about the Camco drums is that on eBay (which I know is not the only game in town), there are a fair number of Camcos for sale for pretty high prices, but if you check the Completed Listings, they aren't selling. Most of the Camco snares that have sold recently went for a couple hundred dollars at the most. So, people are asking huge amounts of money for these drums, but they aren't getting it. What seem to be selling are Camco parts, stands, and pedals, and they aren't going for very much. And I've seen whole Camco kits listed in other places for around $250. So, I don't know if that's a real steal or if the kits really just don't have a lot of value in the large collectibles market.

I would like to make a point when it comes to Camco drums as far as sets you see for about 250.00.I think that some of these ads you see are from Tama made Camco drums alot of sellers will use the name Camco on their ads but they are not the Camcos that are made in the U.S.A...I also think that Camco's made in oaklawn,IL are the ones that sell for more than the later Camco made drums.Alot of things come into play color,size,condition..I also think that pre Camco drums made by Geo.Way bring the most money as far as re-selling.....Mikey

Most sellers would google "Camco" and 15 minutes later they're convinced that they struck gold.

Except a few people around here, nobody seems to know how to price them,...

From a listing currently on Ebay.

" I just took a look at Camco prices here on eBay... don't quite know how to price this, so I'm not putting a buy it now on it. Apparently the badge itself is worth over $100".

I guess a drum or a part is only worth what a buyer at any given moment is willing to pay for it.

yea, Fuse must bee seeing Tama Camco's and any of the american made Camco's, Oaklawn, Chanute, I have never seen one of those set's or individual drums go for cheap. Those Camco drums are very collectable. Try to find some bass drum spurs and mounts together for under $250.00. if you can find them.

So right on finding a set od spurs and mounts. You can find both but they will cost alot of green...Just a side note the Ludwig spurs from 1970-75 will work with the Camco mounts....Mikey
