This shows that nearly anything is possible. Check out this Radio King snare drum that has no badge- anywhere. Bizarre.

The lack of badge isn't on It's on conclusive. But seeing your snare ( just from the outside ) I see single point lugs, and that strainer doesn't look like it cuts through the re-ring.

The one thing for me that's striking is the off set lugs. You'd think with a shallow shell they would have gone with center lugs. Anyway you can post some more photos of the snare? Might sound tedious, but if you could get close to the wrap on the " supposed cut side " maybe something may give it away.
Here are some more photos last night, I tried to take some good close ups of the edges.
Here are some additional photos. Thanks again for all the help and Ideas guys, It's interesting trying to piece this thing together.

I have two ideas tossing in my head. While I am greatly leaning towards 1, there is a slightly ( highly unlikely ) chance 2 is right.
1 - That snare is a cut down. No way would Slingerland ever miss-align the snare beds ( you can see that sits wonky ) and no way would a lug be that close to the strainer or butt plate. Nothing about that is factory.
2 - That snare was a shallow tom that someone decided to convert ( poorly ) into a snare.
Again I am leaning towards it being a cut down. Nothing is centered, and even with off set lugs, a factory off set would have taken greatly into account the placement of both the strainer and butt plate. And while this may have needed the re-rings to be cut into, never would they have let a snare out of the factory off center, at least not THAT off center.

That snare is totally a cut down. No way would Slingerland ever miss-align the snare beds ( you can see that sits wonky ) and no way would a lug be that close to the strainer or butt plate. Nothing about that is factory.
Agreed. This appears to be someone's home-made snare drum, cut down from a deep shell.
I guess if it works and sounds good then use it. But with all the hardware there I'd be inclined to keep an eye out for a shell that somebody has stripped
I mean, if you wanted to ( or if you know someone ) you can have all the top lugs moved around and the holes filled. This would allow for even placement of strainer and butt plate. I'm not sure how it sounds as is. But might not be a bad idea to invest a little to really open that snare up.
