When I was in high school a drummer friend who was a few years older than me, and a Slingerlang player, bought that same kit brand new in the Black sparkle and I can remember to this day how nice it looked on stage and under lights. Nice looking set. I would grab those if the price is right.

Great looking kit! Love the dual bass drum spurs. As to the year, serial numbers will really help. I've got a similar kit in Sparkling Purple Pearl with 5-digit serial numbers, all beginning with 2xxxx. My kit is a 1971. The style of tone control (muffler) will also help. If you can post serial numbers and maybe a shot of the tone controls, we can get close to the year. Still, it does look like early 70's.Mark

I picked up the kit today. All the drums have the 1970 Slingerland transition badge on them (Niles black & silver). The serial numbers are 8239 (12"), 8418 (13"), 7017 (16"), 8375 (22"), and 7712 (14" Krupa Sound King snare). With the kit I also got 3 Slingerland cymbal stands, a Slingerland Rocket snare stand, a vintage throne and a hi-hat stand. I'll post some pics after I do a little detailing.

Sounds like a great kit! The "transition" badges are a real plus! My kit has the next badge, still etched, but without the curly "S".

I was incorrect when I stated the sizes of the rack toms. They're actually 9x13 and 10x14 in lieu of 8x12 and 9x13.
