How common are 1 ply solid shell basses and toms? What companies made them? I am curious as I thought only snares were made of solid shells (1 ply) and I seem to have a 26 inch curly maple Leedy bass drum from the 20's that is solid shell (still trying to verify this in another thread but thought this general question an interesting topic for a thread of it's own). It would be interesting to see how many are out there. If this has already been discussed please point me in that direction. I am new to this forum and still finding my way around but I am so happy I found this site!! thanks

My 1914 Leedy 14x28 bass drum is solid mahogany. Noble & Cooley make modern single ply sets but they're $$$. I used to have a 5x14 Noble & Cooley single ply maple snare that was really nice. I think there are a couple more places making them.
