Just picked this up off ebay and wanted to show you guys. The shell is mahogany not sure what year it was made. The inside is bear wood, should i put some kind of oil to preserve it? There is a very small hairline crack on the inside about 4 inches long. I removed the gut wires it came with and put modern wires, tuned it up, sounds FAT!!!!!! love it

Cool drum!

I'm not a fan of doing things the factory didn't. So I wouldn't coat the interior. Keep those gut wires. Part of the history.

Thanks for identifying it. Im all for keeping it original but this drum is going to be used live and modern wires really transforms it to a more modern sound.

Sorry, my fault not clear. No need to use the original snares. Just keep them with the drum for posterity.

I put puresound snare wires on my Haskell Harr model it made a huge difference also replace my strainer with a rapid strainer. It has the exact hole spacinging as the orignal one did. I can change it all back to original if need be. Use liquid gold and wipe the interior with it.

Thanks i was wondering what strainer would work with existing holes. Also, i noticed that a spot on the outside of the shell, the wood is bubbling up. You cant really see it, i can push on it and it feels springy. Should this be any concern? Does it affect the sound?
