15x12 wfl ludwig marching snare Last viewed: 4 hours ago

this snare is "by the badge" from the late 40's early 50's. The wrap is originally gold sparkle but some fool has painted over it white... shell seems to be in relatively good shape and lugs look pretty good. bad things - badge was painted over, strainer doesn't work (bent) and the hoops have taken a beating. pics on request, drop me a pm. not sure of the value so make me an offer and we'll see what we can do.

thanks, Dan

My original plan was to remove the hardware and turn this into a rims mounted floor tom. Then add a bass and another tom or two and have me a nice little vintage 3 ply set. I would have re-wrapped all the drums to match and I was looking into using all new hardware; sigle point of contact lugs, hoops and rims mounts all in either brass or black chrome with a purple, black or bright green sparkle for the wrap. But alas, the wife changed my mind for me on that one claiming that no one needs three drumsets, I tried to argue that technically I would only have to sets and then an extra 3 or 4 drums given the fact that I wasn't going to have a snare with the set but it didn't work... So now I am reluctantly trying to sell:(

I'm seriously considering it at this price... maybe a set of WFL's would pacify me until I got all the components of my mega Ludwig & Ludwig set. :-)

Current gigging set:
Recent Ludwig Accent 13/16/18/26, (in Silver Sparkle), "updated" 70's Acrolite with cast batter hoop and Trick strainer/butt

Cymbals:
Zildjian K Custom Ride, Dream (Bliss and Contact) crashes and hats, and a Sabian Swish/China.

Other stuff:
60's Ludwig Champagne Sparkle "Traveler's Club Date", under construction. Click Here
70's Acrolite (under RE-construction)
Two 1960's mahogany 32" Ludwig bass drums with Imperial lugs.

will do... I'm thinking of putting together a reasonably-sized 4pc, and I like 15" drums.

A set in 12, 15, and 24 or 26 would be really perfect for me.

thats what I was gonna do with it, I was gonna go for 13, 15, and either 20 or 22 though. If you decide you want it, and build the kit, I will definently need pics.

I can't tell by the pics (I'm on my phone), but what's the shell made of? mahog/pop/maple, or...?
