18 Slingerland floor tom Last viewed: 23 hours ago

I picked this up in an antique shop today. It's pretty ragged around the edges and missing the bottom hoop and t-rods and one of the leg mounting thumbscrews.

I might not have bought it except I was thinking being an 18 it could be worth picking up. I know nothing about the history of 18" Slingerland (or any other brand) toms. Denim wrap - only seen this in some photos here.

What do I have here?

I think it was '76 that was the only year for that wrap.....same as the Aztec wraps....

Saw a complete outfit in denim on daBay not long ago, the only one I've seen......,

thanks guys - no pockets though.

Only the one wingscrew works - one leg support is stripped out. A relatively easy fix with a Heli Coil I think. Probably be tough to find the 18 hoop. I just might keep it the way it is and maybe someone will need it to complete a kit. I will wipe the dust of it and maybe put the rusty parts into a vinegar bath but that's about it other than a Heli Coil for the leg support hole. I would love to have it set up for a bit and use it. Checked the tone out a bit and it's a canon.

Cool drum.!Throw a couple L-Arms in the 2 of the floor tom holders and you have a nice little 18 inch kick without having to drlll any holes! And still have a bass mounted cymbal holder!

Kevin - I see it in the 76 Catalog - I don't see it in the 77 - I don't have access to the 75.

looks like it may have forgotten to roll up its jeans before going for a stroll along the beach?
