18" Bass Drum Head Options Last viewed: 35 minutes ago

Loading...

Hi fellows.

Turning an 16(deep)x18(diam) Blaemire tom into a BD.

I thought I would use an Evans emad (single ply) on batter.

What are your opinions on head for reso side?

And batter side for that matter.

Sound for drum is classic rock. So as deep as I can get the little sucker to go. Head choice opinions please.

I know!............ I should pull out my 24" for this genre.

I am now into the little kit size at this time.

Toms, 8,10 and 13, Snare 13, BD will be 18.

Thanks SA

I wish I could help you out. I wouldn't even begin to guess which heads would sound best on a Blaemire shell. Jinx would be the best guy to put that question to. Jerry has probably tried every head combination you could imagine. As for the rest of us... we haven't got a clue. Let us know which heads you end up using and how they worked out for you. I'd be interested to know.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I believe Jerry used to use the Evans EC2 SST heads on the toms and an EMAD on the bass drum for his kit.

I would think that an 18 will only get so much boom from any head. I'd try a Pinstripe batter and Ambassador Resonant for starters, cheapest that way.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
