18" Rogers Holiday Bass drum Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I just picked up an 18x14" Rogers bass drum. It had been rewrapped at some point, but the original Champagne finish is intact from what I can see and feel through the current wrap. The bottom section was not covered though.

I am able to pull back the wrap and it seems to be removable without too much effort. However, I plan to use a heat gun to loosen up the adhesive so I do not damage the original wrap underneath. I have not cleaned it yet.

It is missing the front bass hoop and inlay, as well as the 8 tension rods and claws. The original script badge is not there either.

Does anyone have a guess as to its age? The tag says 82322

My original plan was to flip the drum, but I may be tempted to keep it. The champagne sparkle finish is gorgeous.

Does anyone happen to have an 18" Rogers hoop and champagne sparkle inlay?

Does anyone have an idea of how much it would be worth once I have the hoop, t-rods and claws?

Yes it would be hard to sell that. I don't know anything about it, but you might want to stay away from the heat gun if you can get the stupid wine red garbage off without it. Sorry I got a little angry at the stupid wine red garbage there....:)

Awesome score! No one's going to sell you a hoop like that though...haha I mean I think that's a major hold-onto-just-in-case type item. If you do find it and get that thing back in shape though I think it would be worth a fair bit of cash. Sorry I can't be more helpful on that.

Be careful taking that crappy wrap off.

Hopefully it will come off without too much trouble.

I hope the og wrap is still in goo shape.

If it were me I would make me a hoop for that thing while looking for an original.

Thanks everyone.

I have received some good advice and will try some 3M Adhesive Remover and see how that goes. I will NOT use the heat gun. If I see a need a little heat, I will use a hair dryer to warm it up a bit.

Was there any difference between the bass drum hoops for one made in Dayton versus one made in the Cleveland era?

I don't think so as they were all made at the Covington OH factory. Cleveland-Dayton were the business offices.

Fantastic find! That tag number puts it at late 1967 just before the transition to speckled interiors. Keep us posted on how the wrap removal goes. I bet that cheap wrap kept the original Champagne Sparkle from fading.

It looks great on the bottom section that was not covered and from the small sections I can see by pulling the wrap back. Hoping it all looks good.....
