Hi, just picked up a 1910 leedy snare. It looks exactly like this one http://m.guitarcenter.com/Item/Default.aspx?itemno=1572309&urx=1 is it really worth 1600? I just bought aquarian American vintage heads for it. I plan on playing this drum and would rather not use the calf skin head that came with it. I'll try to post pics when I get home

I have tracked the prices of these old snares over the years, because I have a few. They are historically interesting, & great artifacts, but they are very disappointing sellers, & do not command much attention or $$. Guitar Center is very often Out of their Minds ! !

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. It uses those thick metal snare wires. Does pure sound make a replacement wire for these? Or should I stick with the original wires? How should I approach tuning it? Thanks!!
