Hello! I have a question and I'm sorry if I come across as not very knowledgable, but I'm not...lol! I found this base drum in the basement of my parents home (it was my grandfathers drum). I have NO idea of any of thhe information regarding this drum. If anyone can take a look at the pics and give me any info I would appreciate it. Thanks
1920/30's Ludwig base drum w/mural Last viewed: 7 hours ago
Welcome to VDF!
The detail of the painted head is nice, but we need to see the entire drum, and preferably from several different angles. Are you planning on selling it? Were there any other drums, or drum related equipment?
John
I tried to upload all of them but for some reason only one took
Here is another

It is actually a late 30's early 40's the painted front head was a standard ludwig painted head that came stock on these drums they had several to choose from.
I would like to sell it...there is a black leather (I think) cover ...2 pieces that slide to cover it. Drum also has a light that believe it or not, does work! Plain on the back and there is a signature or something at the bottom of the drum on the mural side.
Any idea what these would go for if I were to sell? Condition is pretty good...a few little scrapes but no holes in drum.
First - grandpa's drum is a little piece of drum history. Not great in monetary value, but intrinsically valuable as a piece of music history. It's a wonderful display piece and one that would be used that way, as opposed to used for playing. The painting on the head was done by a gifted, experienced oil painter. I'd say something in the $300 to $500 range would be in the zone price-wise. As 'grandpa's drum' and a piece of drum history... it's priceless.

with it being a single tension model, they usually only command 100-200 range the head is almost more valuable than the drum with the head 300.00. is it a 26" or 28"?
