Good guess! I don't know what it is. Tuning peg would have a hole at the bottom to thread the string through, that thing doesn't have a hole in the post.

I'm stumped.

mike got this from me but i didn't know either. some past interested buyers said it was something tympani related or from display (and something else i don't remember off hand)
