1920s Wilson Brothers Snare Help Last viewed: 23 hours ago

I got this cool Wilson Brothers Snare Drum in a package sale recently.

It's a welded metal shell with a wood ply and paper tag as you can see. The drum is complete but the weld looks like it needs a little TLC. There is also a small split in the wood ply, visible in the pictures. Paper tag says it was made in Chicago. It had single flange hoops and clips, all of which appear to be original. This drum features the 3-way strainer which IS in working condition. I'm thinking its a mid 1920s drum.

I'm wondering if anyone has had one of these and can speak to its value at all. Or for that matter, its level of collectibility. It's a pretty unique drum, very thin shell and very light.

I would think cleaned up and new heads it might be a $150-200 piece.

Cool! Thanks for the input! That's what I was thinking, too. I'm wondering if I need looser fitting heads for a drum like this, as right now it has busted calf-skin heads on it.
