Thats beautiful Mark, I'm feeling more drawn to the drums fom this period too, I am picking up a set of late 30s Radio Kings tomorrow with tacked bottom heds and I'm like a kid at Christmas, my favourite snare has long been a 37 Leedy single ply, most of my drums from the early 50s or earlier and I'm eager to get my hands on a nice 1920s snare. None of these things are easy to source when you live in the UK

Thanks, EC Curtis and Brushbaby-

That Radio King set sounds very cool. I think I saw the photo you posted a while ago. You'll love them.

A '37 Leedy? That is a great era for Leedy snare drums. I bet it has a solid maple shell. That seems to be around the time they switched from one ply mahogany to maple. Big difference in sound (in a good way!). Those drums are killer.

It is indeed a single ply maple, gold and black duco 6 1/2 x14 I love it, I also have a 3 ply Leedy feb 47 gold sparkle 8 x 14 which is also beautiful, we struggle to get Leedy over here as by the time US drums were imported Leedy were sadly departed, fine drums, I have a love for Leedy and Ludwig drums too, they are very rare here but I have a very clean kit with a single ply 5 X14 snare in wmp and a 6 1/2 x 14 snare in BDP.

I regularly visit your site and am very keen to get to the Chicago show one year.

Those are some great restorations. Almost too perfect to play !! Look at the screws, they all line up and match equally, very well done !!

It`s good to know that someone has the drawings and experience building those Leedy stick throws.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

What a collection! I think such a snare require a lot of skills to get the essence of sound from it.

Fantastic restoration. I'd really like to play/hear a Standard-Sensitive with snares top and bottom like that. Truly a work of art.
