1930s Premier Bass Drum? Last viewed: 53 minutes ago

Loading...

I am new to this forum and have joined to try to find out a bit more about a few vintage drums I have acquired over the years. (I play trombone in several bands but have an interest in other old instruments.)

Can anyone offer any info / comment on a 28 inch x 9 inch Premier bass drum I recently got? It was being thrown into a rubbish bin by relatives of a recently deceased neighbour whose home was being cleared.

I have dismantled and sanded and re-varnished the hoops. I have also sprayed the hooks in gold. Other work was just cleaning and polishing. I have no idea about its history, other than seeing drums like it on a website that suggests it is from the 1930s

Photos show the overall drum (calf skins both sides), the lugs and tensioning arrangement, and the Premier badge.

Hello!

Are you prepared to sell your bass drum? If yes, how much do you want?

How does the drum sounds like?

Of what kind of wood is it made? Does the shell also have reinforcement rings?

Kind regards,

Luigi
