From Mike Curotto

The shell is not the standard WFL 3-ply mahogany shell with reinforcement rings as the catalog states. This shell is 3-ply but the inside of the shell has a maple veneer, so we have, starting from the outside, the WMP wrap, a thin mahogany veneer, a thick mahogany piece and the maple interior veneer with maple reinforcement rings.

This is incorrect.

What you have is (from outside to inside):

1. The wrap

2. Thin mahogany

3. Thick POPLAR core

4. Thin maple

5. Solid maple re-ring

I don't know if anybody else noticed, but someone has been trying to sell one of those lugs on Ebay.By the way...what does a twin strainer accomplish?

I bought one just in case of Murphy's Law while restoring that drum.

Ok, thanks for the correction but are you sure that's poplar?

99.99% sure. That's what they used forever for their 3-ply drums. And I know for certain it's not mahogany. It's not maple. What else could it be?
