1949 Leedy Broadway Standard kit Last viewed: 14 hours ago

I restored this kit in the mid 90s and I do have a before picture but was unable to download it to this page ... This was a huge project and I could not begin to count the hours spent on the restoration ... 1949 Leedy Broadway Standard with the extremely rare Blue Badge, 24 kick with original calfskin on front ,13 tom with original tacked on pig hide on bottom and an aftermarket calfskin on top, 6 1/2 by 14 snare that I bought calfskin heads for but eventually switched to ambassadors as it has been the only snare I use ever since ...

I love the look of this type snare; deep with single lugs. Nice.

Nice and welcome! It's awesome to see your full setup. I'm finishing up a 40's Leedy Broadway Standard 8x14 snare myself and am glad to hear that you like the Ambassadors. Do you have the original snares or did you switch to something else? Trying to get mine fully fine-tuned. Those are great drums!

I just refinished a 1949 Broadway Concert, 9" x 15" and it sounds awesome. Congrats on restoring such a great kit.

Gwm ... yep the original snares were in really good shape and being a super sensitive type set up I'm not sure if you could find a new set of snares that would work ... coated ambassador and an ambassador snare rock on this drum ! ... I had the aftermarket calfskin's on for a short time ... but I live in South Carolina and had to spend 5 or more minutes tuning any time I wanted to play it ...

John ... hope you can get some pics up would love to see that drum !
