Questions for those who KNOW about 1950's Gretsch---
I am looking at a 1953 Gretsch 8 x 15 snare drum.
Questions:
1--Is this drum called a "Broadcaster"
2--Did it come with die cast hoops or stick chopper hoops?
3--Did the wrap end UNDER the lugs on all snare drums?
4--Did the keyrods have thread all the way up?

1: Broadkaster was the overall name for Gretsch's top line drums. An 8x15 snare would be a Broadkaster Concert model.
2: I'm not sure on when the hoops transitioned to the die casts but I think a drum from 1953 would be more likely to have the stick choppers.
3: in my experience (the drums I've owned) Gretsch did not worry about wrap seams being under lugs. Sometimes they are but more often they aren't.
4: I don't know, but again, in my experience, vintage rods tend to have an unthreaded "shoulder" while many modern rods are threaded all the way up.

I have a 7x14 3ply. Mine has die casts but earlier examples would have had the stick choppers. The seam isn't under a lug.
Did this snare drum have reinforcement rings?
