1950's Leedy & Ludwig knob tension kit Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Notwithstanding the issues associated with knob tension kits, what is a realistic price for a four piece WMP one in excellent condition?

Oh my! That's interesting. I was thinking maybe $2000. I guess I'm a little off. :)

They're hoping for someone with more dollars than sense... good luck with that!

I own a WMP bass and snare like these pictured. I've owned and sold a gold sparkle set also.

White's the most common finish for those.

But, a complete set is difficult to find.

Considering the "uselessness" of the set I'd value it at 1200 bucks tops. Y'know, you can't play it, you can't find period L+L stands or parts to finish the set, and, totalling value of the drums if sold one by one, it's hard to value it for big bucks I think.

When it comes to pricing vintage drums, GC is a little nuts. Here at one of the Atlanta stores, they have a nice 1950s Slingerland Concert King. The price? $1299! That's a 4 or 500 dollar drum any day of the week.

What's the deal on those Leedy and Ludwig drums? Were they just bad drums in general, or is it the single tension contraption that makes them unsuitable for playing?
