1954 Gretsch Broadkaster kit w/matching snare Last viewed: 5 hours ago

SOLD!!!!

Ok, gentlemen, Here it is! 1954 Gretsch Broadkaster drum kit - 13x9, 16x16, 22x14, w/matching 14x6.5 snare.

Snare drum is dated Jan 4, 1954. No other dates on the kit. Everything original on the kit except a couple replacement wing screws and snare wires. Missing the badges on snare & bass drum. Rail consolette mount on the bass drum is present but the arm is missing.

No extra holes, factory bearing edges in excellent condition, Midnight Blue Pearl wrap still looks great with very little wear & nice seams. Fresh Remo heads top & bottom. Warm & woody sound. Snare drum cracks like a whip and the bass drum is chunky!

As you can see in the pics, some roughness on the snare hoops and the paint on the BD hoops, as well as a little on the 13. A few of the T rods are not totally straight. Several were bent pretty badly but I was able to get them back fairly close. They all turn very nicely though.

Feel free to ask any questions. I'm happy to go over the kit with you on the phone, snap additional pics, or whatever you need.

$2100 + shipping. Happy to drive within 150 mi or so of Nashville for a meet-up and cut some of the shipping costs (I get 31 mpg in the Accord!). Paypal only and shipping to lower 48 states only please.

Bump. Also, someone locally has asked if I would sell the snare separately. Any thoughts on doing that? Does it help, hurt, or matter?

A complete round badge kit is worth far more than without the matching snare. That`s why the person wants your snare.

My answer to your question stands.

Here`s what I would do, just me not saying you should. Yes it matters.

I would take into consideration a fellow vintage drummer who may never find his matching snare, and the fact the kit does not mean much to me.

1) I could make a vintage player, not collector, happy as a pig in sh*t with a fair price for a snare he desires, and make short money on a kit that will sell and I have no interest in.

2) I could sell it as is for good money and leave a fellow player searching because the buyer of the snare-less kit will be in the same situation.

Me, I would do option one after making sure the player is a player and not a slick collector/flipper.

Reason, some people don`t like wood snares or metal snares and the snare is always an option to a player but not a collector/flipper.

My mom always taught me to help a guy out if he deserves it and I can.

This is just something to consider and not a suggested move for you to make.

Keep it together. Where are you advertising it for sale?

From Rich K.

Keep it together. Where are you advertising it for sale?

Right now I've advertised here, local CL and a couple local musician trading post sites. Trying to sell locally or to someone here. I'll give it a couple more weeks before listing on Reverb. Ebay is a last resort and I don't think I'll ever be desperate enough to list it there. I can afford to sit on it for awhile.
