1957 Rogers Mercury Snare Drum Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Loading...

I have a sweet little 6-lugger for sale. This is a rare little bird Rogers lovers and others will just want to have in their arsenal. The drum is a 1957, Rogers Eagle badge, gold lacquer, 6-lugs w/old-style single flange chrome over brass hoops and clips, single tension lugs and rods. All hardware and hoops are clean and in excellent cosmetic condition. Shell is sound, good bearing edges, appears to be a really nice maple shell under there. No extra holes or problems. Rogers label, serial number 1015.

The drum is as raw and open-throated as you'd expect a six-lugger to sound. This is a quality snare from a company known for building great drums. Can't go far wrong with vintage Rogers.

$250. - Shipped in lower 48.

PM me if interested.

It's a raunchy little snare! I've been playing second line stuff on it all day. It's perfect for that kind of playing. Rolls on this thing play themselves... jazzy, raunchy, open sounding drum with a nice clean crack if you hit it around center. Out on the rims there's miles of tone to mess around with. I love it. It's a great snare fer sure.

That's a raw, raunchy little snare. I love playing buzzy, rolly, Johnny Vidacovich style second-line stuff on it. Just has the 'right sound' for it.

I'm glad it went to a good home where it'll be appreciated. It was a pleasure dealing with you, Gary. Smooth as transactions come... Clapping Happy2

Enjoy it for many years to come. Great little 'display piece' too! I really love those little Eagle Badge Rogers snares.

yup. I am a sucker for those early orchestra throw offs with the straight arm. Dig the eagle badge with baton in beak. Even more for those earlier Union, Daisy and Three Star badge drums.

Jo "Zigaboo" Modeliste was a major influence in my playing. The Meters box set is a must for any drummer. Roots as true as duck Dunn and Mr. Jackson. Funny thing was when I told the bands that I was working with back in the day that I'm playing beats influenced by them. No matter if it was punk art poetry rock at CBGBs or Southern rock covers in a NJ dive bar or folk original rock with my favorite 1990s group- Acousma. Had one bass player frustrated/drunk after the gig asking me why do you always ask before we start if we can be tight like Duck and Al. She asked, "Why do you keep calling me a duck!?"
