From GeorgiaPeach

I have pictures but can't get them on site.

GP!

I put them up as attachments, which is what is preferred on the VDF. THANKS to troutstudio just the same, but this takes up much less space and is archivable for future reference.

What size are the cymbals? The ride looks like a UFO! 24"? Crash? For their age, they look as good as they get. Righteous kit!

Believe it or else!

Although I hesitate to question 1958 as your date of purchase, the

die-cast, stick saver snare and tom hoops, as well as the floor tom leg brackets and the bass drum claws and rod handles on your set would seem to indicate a later date of manufacture than 1958?

There was mixed hardware on the drums in those late 50's and early (60-61) years.

My kit - for instance was bought in very early 60....may have been in the music store for a while and sent there in mid-late 59. My kit has factory fawcet-style bass drum claws. The claws on the kit in question were around in as early as 1958 the G5462 = bottom left pg 196 The Gretsch Drum Book. My kit also has the diamond plate floor tom leg supports.

I have the 58 catalog and the Name Band kit - like in the photo above - has the fawcet style bd t-rods but that's not to say the newer style was not around in 58.

Stickchopper Hoops:

My 'factory' late 50's kit only has stickchopper hoops on the snare drum - the toms all have die-cast hoops.....again..mixed (transition) hardware. Even the plys on my kit are mixed and came from the factory like that......all 3ply except the 14" floor tom...which is 6ply

Great drums, but a great backstory too! Are there any photos or recordings of the group or of your time in dance bands? It would be fun to see/hear!

Good luck with your sale, this site is a good bet for getting the most money for your drums and cymbals. You might be able to get more elsewhere, but you'd pay a lot more in fees as well.
