Up for sale is a mid 1960's Leedy kit in the rare Fiesta Pearl Finish. The bass drum is 18", floor tom is 14" and the tom is 12". Please look at the photos closely, you'll see the drums are in great shape. But here are the pro's and con's of the kit -
Pro's - The kit is 95% original. Comes with the original batter ( calf skin ) head ( still very playable ) and the original Leedy front head. The rims, tension rods, floor tom leg brackets, floor tom legs, tom mount are all original to the kit. The wrap aside from having yellowed is solid. No tears, rips, bubbles, etc.. The inside of the drums are clean. The owners son used to stack them inside each other so they may be a few " rub " marks, but no serious dings, dents or other damage.
Con's - The bass drum legs are not original to the kit. The chrome on the tom mount has flaked off though the years. There is mild rust, but no serious corrosion or pitting. The seams where the wrap was glues has become red on the toms. This is due to the original adhesive causing the red to run from the stars,squares,circles,etc.. When you get up close you'll clearly see it is because of the red in the wrap and nothing else. The bass drum hoops have some paint chipping ( as to be expected ) and one of the hoops is missing the inlay.
This kit in my opinion is in 7/8 out of 10 shape. The cowbell mount has been there since the kit was purchased. I got the kit from the original owners son who had it stored in hard cases. So this kit hasn't been exposed to the elements and hasn't sat in some musty dirty dingy room for years. It has been loved and well cared for. I would love to see it go to a new home and be loved once again.
No snare or hardware. But if wanted I can add the Leedy bass pedal that came with the kit, and I have a 1960's Ludwig Hi-Hat stand in good condition I could throw in as well as a flat base WFL snare stand. Those are optional, but available with the kit if desired.
