1962 Rogers Swing Time at the gig Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Labor Day saw my old school country band Three Chord Justice play a gig we have come to love doing over the last 4 years.

A really nice sort of upscale senior mobile home park with a huge recreation center complete with a big carpeted stage.

It looks like 1974 everywhere & everything still looks brand new.

Most of the folks here are quite up there in age but are really sweet folks. They all get done up in their cowboy best so its a treat for us to play this music to the folks who may have grown up listening to it. Not to mention we are fed & payed well for only an hour and a half gig.

We keep our volume down big time at this gig so in deciding what kit to use, I took that into consideration.

I decided this was the perfect gig for a set that needs to be babied so out came the Rogers Mardi Gras kit.

I had plenty of time to set up, a very easy load in & out and the entire stage felt like Grandma's living room so it was a very safe environment.

Needless to say, the drums sounded really full even at the low volume I played at.

The kick has quite the thick boom & both toms project nicely. The snare took some tweaking but just loosening the snares a bit seemed to do the trick.

For those wondering, I do have very slight cracks on some of the B&B lugs but nothing at all major. You really have to look to see them.

And for that reason, I don't really mess with the tuning as they sound very good already.

That being said, this is a kit I will not be bashing on & why it was perfect for this wonderful way to wrap up Labor Day.

Cheers!

What a beautiful Mardi Gras kit! A wonderful example with strong colors. Glad to see you are playing it and am sure the audience appreciated it.

Beautiful kit! I would love to find something like that with my birth year 1962. Sounds like a great gig/venue also.

Thank you!

That might be just about the prettiest finish Rogers ever offered. One really has to wonder why it escaped so early into the 60's. Sounds like you had a good time all around.

Thanks all!

On another "note"

Anybody know why some of the pics when posted come out upside down & sideways?

They are not like that on my computer or in the folder or on my phone. Weird.

Same thing happens to me on this site...even when they are not that way on my computer. If that happens, I usually delete the photo from my post and try again after I make a change to the pic, change it back and save again. Usually the second attempt after that "trickery" will work. Hopefully that made sense.
