1963-1969 Slingerland COB HELP!!! Last viewed: 52 minutes ago

1963-1969 Slingerland CoB with the shell of a Krupa/Sound King but the strainer/butt from a Festival model. Both heads are orig, along with the snare stand, Buddy Rich practice pad, case, and a pair of Ludwig pencil model 6a's with no marks on them....I found this on Facebook Marketplace for $10!!!!!!! I even gave the lady an extra $20 for gas since she drove about 15 miles to meet me.

I am needing help regarding the drum because i have no clue as to what actual model this drum could be since it appears nothing has been worked on and there's no extra holes drilled around the strainer which would give evidence that it had been changed. Also, is there any way to narrow down the yr model it is according to the serial number? What could this drum honestly be worth? Thanks very much for your help!!!

The stitching on the case would put it 65 or better.

What went in that case, well,.. Mahogany, Lacquer, Chrome.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

My guess would be either a new person in the factory grabbed the wrong shell, or a big order needed to be filled and they were temporarily out of Festival shells.

Since the anomalies on it are the strainer and butt, could you post photos that include those features?

Its just a sound king with a rapid strainer, there are more than a couple out there, they show up from time to time. Value is the same as every other sound king.

Heres a pic of the strainer, butt, and also the snare side head.... the snare side is a Ludwig head but i heard that Ludwig would supply heads for Slingerland so i was just wanting to make sure i was correct when i stated it had the orig heads on it. Im not a big vintage buff so i have no clue what this could be worth. Its just dirty. Thanks!!!!

Case is post '65. Badge and serial number are late 60's, '69 plus or minus. Large tone control knob rules out earlier 60's. You could call this a Krupa with a rapid strainer but since the strainer makes the model I would call this a Festival with a three line shell. I believe the Ludwig lower head is non-original.

edit 11/2022: This is indeed a late 60's "Festival" model, not a factory mistake/substitution. Newer research validates this. Ludwig head is not original.

Could someone give me a dollar range as to how much it would be worth? Would it be worth more to sell everything together?

KEEP IT, if you are a drummer.

You got an awesome deal. Buy some new heads, save the old ones with the sticks and case, and love that thing.

I scored a '68 soundking a while back and it's my current go to.

I like Drums...
1963 Ludwig Downbeat Champagne Sparkle
1964 Leedy (Slingerland) Blue n Silver Duco
1964 Ludwig Club Date Sparkling Silver Pearl
1966 Ludwig Super Classic Sparkling Silver Pearl
1968 Gretsch round badge modern jazz orange stain
1972 Slingerland 85N Pop outfit Light Blue Pearl
1976 Ludwig Vistalite clear
1981 Gretsch SSB Gran Prix Rosewood
1987 Yamaha Turbo Tour Custom Mellow Yellow
1991 Pearl Export Ferrari Red

Well from what I see... around 250Usd with the lot... maybe a little more if you clean it up... It's around a 1968 COB Sound King shell. More than likely was sold as a student Festival package given the case/stand/pad ... (second one I have seen that has shown up on forums this week) ..

Cheers
