this one is a 1964, Its got me confused now, I really thought steel was less valuable than brass....

Call me a skeptic, but I find it hard to swallow a drum that old, being steel doesn't have some finish issues. What is the history on the drum?
I have a COS Ludwig "supra" from the 70's and a few minor changes and it becomes a "one of a kind". I'm not insinuating that you did this but I'd need to see the drum in my own hands and need to confirm

The finish does have issues. The chrome is pitting/flaking, but it not as present in the photo because I used this as a professional photo and through the adjustment of lighting was able to "hide" it pretty well. If you look on the left side of the badge just below the bead you will see one of the pits. Also some very small pitting just above the left lug.
I found this drum at a thrift store, in a case. I'd hope that if someone went through the effort to forge it it wouldn't have been donated.
There are no scratches or marks anywhere near the badge indicating a change.

I think we need to go back to mlayton's earlier post. there were a few COS Supras made. 99.9% of them are Ludalloy. I believe a magnet will stick to a Ludalloy Supra shell because of the chrome plating, but it'd be a weak attraction at best. I'll give it a try tomorrow....marko
I detailed a 65ish ludalloy supra this past weekend. ive got a real strong magnet that I use to check hoops. I couldn't get it to stick to the lugs or the shell at all, just the hoops.

Hmmm..... I was messing around with a magnet on this shell earlier with just the top hoop removed again and couldn't seem to get the magnet to stick to the inside of the shell but sticks clear as day to the outside.
I took that same magnetic dart to my Brass shell and got a very weak pull, about half the pull of my 64 in question.
Tomorrow I'm going to take off all of the hardware and test the naked shell. I'm about 90% sure I did this when I got the drum 2 years ago, but just to be sure I'm not getting interference from the screws or something silly I'll do it again.
Can someone with a confirmed brass supra tell me the weight? and someone with a confirm ludalloy tell me the weight as well? Maybe the weight will be able to either rule out or reinforce a material...
