Finally got this one all cleaned up and polished. One of the most complete kits I have come across in my Vintage Drum hunting journeys. Lots of hours hand polishing the Nickel hardware with Maas Polish and Cape Cod Cloths and many baths in Dawn and Vinegar to remove the rust but I love what I ended up with! One pic of it next to my 64 Ludwig Downbeat that was the first vintage kit I ever scored then restored with the help of this forum. Crazy how much lighter the 64 is.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Fantastic work on the kit. It came out shining like the day it was made.
FYI I also wanted everyone to know what a stand up guy Derek is . . . Yes Sir
He had a L-bracket that goes onto a early cymbal stand that he was asking about when he first got this kit. It was an add on that was not needed for his kit. I reached out and inquired as I needed one for a stand that was unusable for my 58' New Yorker.
He was nice enough to give it to me and sent it to me also.
He is yet another one of the examples and reasons that our VDF group are the best !
Thanks again Derek ! Clapping Happy2

Nice work and nice pair of drums sets. Do you find that one faded more than the other or is the wrap just that different?
Good question Dan! Initially I thought that the 64 was just more sun faded but both of these were completely taken apart to be cleaned up and I don't remember the downbeat being drastically faded under the lugs and other hardware. Neither was the Club Date I just finished. I'll see if I can dig up some old pics of the 64 Reston to be sure.

Super stunning Club Dates! As a Club Date owner, I'm going to permit myself the observation that the Downbeat is just a little cooler...maybe because they are in effect a mini Super Classic!
Very interesting about the difference in wrap too...
