1965 Ludwig Downbeat WMP - Stunning w/Rare Options Last viewed: 3 hours ago

If vintage Ludwig is your thing, I'm not sure what better one you will find. The kit was a special order and was never gigged and rarely played. 9x13, 16x16, 14x20 Super Beat model. (13 tom and 16ft paired with a 20" kick).

Features:

• Chrome over brass hoops

• Double muffler option on 13 and 16

• Double club date spurs

Condition:

• 100% factory original

• No extra holes, date stamps inside each she'll

• Shells perfectly in round

• Bearing edges are fantastic

• Wrap is bright, even in color, and almost no fading!

• Hardware is mint and has zero pitting or corrosion.

Sizes:

• 9"x13" tom - Chrome over Brass hoops

• 16"x16" floor tom - Chrome over brass hoops

• 14"x20" bass drum - includes the ride cymbal mount.

Note: Other than the remarkable condition, what makes these really special is they were ordered with the "double muffler" option. The 13 and 16 have factory mufflers on both sides a la Gretsch. With that option, the bass got double "club date" type Spurs. There are pictures of Ringo on this exact setup and finish prior to Ed Sullivan show before his kit arrived. Original heads are still on the bass and 13" tom. These don't come around very often. Priced straight and simple for a quick sale.

$1450 shipped OBO (conus) for any Forum member... Not looking for trades on these.

This post is interesting in that it, in the list of new post, it is titled "Downbeat" kit, but in the post itself it is listed as a "Super Beat."

I've been admiring this one some more. Great looking kit, cool set-up and great price considering the cymbal arm and shipping are in there. Sorely tempted, but just spent a wad over the weekend and will have to work the kitty back up for a while. Should fly away quickly! Would be a great set to put in a collection with either of Ringo's oyster black set-ups.

Seems there was a period around '64 when Ludwig sent out a bunch of these sets...20, 13, 16 with double mufflers and club date style spurs. Nice set.

Thanks! Very surprised nobody grabbed these yet actually. Brass hoops too no less.

Also when I first created the listing, I mistakingky typed downbeat in the title. I've edited it to say Super Beat, but still says downbeat when I save it. In edit. It says Super Beat though.
