REDUCED TO $180

Offering a 1965 Slingerland Artist model snare. 3-ply. 8 lug, COB hoops, original butt. Vibrant Silver Sparkle tight wrap - very sharp (jumps out in person more than in photos).

This snare came with a 4-point Rogers strainer - and it will appear in some of the pics. Also, throughout the research and picture taking, I have installed a Zoomatic with an MIJ adjustment knob.

I want to be very clear here: Rogers strainer is NOT INCLUDED. Zoomatic strainer is NOT INCLUDED. This will have the original butt end, and will have no strainer.

Dated NOV 65 on the inside of the shell right at the holes for the strainer (see pics).

I believe these are the original wires, but not in the best condition. Needs bottom head.

Brass hoops - magnet does NOT stick. They need cleaning/polishing, but there is no corrosion (of course).

The badge is a bit loose - spins until the contour stops it. Serial # is 89233

Lugs have some pitting - not severe enough to look bad though (IMHO)

In one area on the top edge, the reinforcement ring looks to be ever so slightly coming loose. It does not move at all , just a trace of a gap which you can only confirm when you squeeze/pinch the shell. Barely noticeable, I just wanted to disclose.

Issues - opportunity for improvement :)

Aside from, what will be, no strainer - the only issue the drum has, which will certainly devalue it, is the extra holes for strainer installation. The previous owner drilled 4 extra holes to install the Rogers "Universal" Orchestral Long Arm strainer. The hole (for the nut for the adjustment post of the original Zoomatic) shows damage and is larger than original. I pushed in on it (near it, with my thumb) to discover that the sheIl is very solid there. Also, FYI - there are no cracks in the wrap there at that hole.

To further assess this drum, I installed a Zoomatic strainer (that I have on another drum of mine) to see if it could be done/if there would be any issues. I used the MIJ nut I have as part of my Zoomatic (which I understand is going to be roughly the same size as the Zoomatic) and was able to discover more accurately the extent of the damage. The hole is wider, but not higher. You can see and feel the exact position that the original nut fit into. I used washers on both ends (see pics) and it installed just right, in right position, and the Zoomatic I had (for fitting purposes only) installed just fine and tight with no sway once tightened/snugged up. As will be seen in the pics, once the Zoomatic is installed, these extra washers can not be seen. I have shot many pics to show what this will look like (visibility of the extra holes) when a Zoomatic is installed. There are several ways to dealing with this, from stickers, to plugging, to patches of matching wrap, or even just leave it as is.

So, in summary - the snare will be sold with NO STRAINER. That said, I am open to negotiating a price that would indeed include a strainer if that is your desire. My Zoomatic uses an MIJ post and is from a different era (70s) than this drum (60s) thus the design is different at the bottom where the snare strings attach. Or I could even include the Rogers 4-point. It had a severely bent adjustment post, but I straightened it so that it the bend is very minor/slight now.

If you have any questions or need to see any more pics, please indeed ask.

To start off here - offering here - with NO STRAINER for -----------------------NOT $220 ANYMORE - SEE ABOVE (not including shipping - drum gets shipped from 49285 zip code)
