1966 Leedy Shelly Manne Outfit #11 in Champagne Sparkle Pearl. Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Hi all.

Over the summer I have had the opportunity to acquire some beautiful vintage drums.

Here is my first great vintage kit other than a Ludwig.

A 1966 Leedy Shelly Manne Outfit #11 in Champagne Sparkle Pearl. 20/13/16/14

Entire set date stamped Jan 1966 in all the drums but smudged in the FT.

All the original heads appear to be on the drums (or at least they are as old as the kit). The drums are pretty near mint. NO rust, pitting, dents, dings, etc.

All chrome shines like brand new. Inlays perfect. I REALLY like the lugs on these drums. Very unique. I am owner #4. I received the working HH & BD pedal as well.

The drums sound FANTASTIC as the first gig was last night. Man that snare drum is something too.

Played them as I got them & leaving them in the vintage state they are in.

A real time capsule & a welcome addition to my collection.

Beautiful! I had a Leedy kit for many years and loved that thing - sold it to a friend so it's still in the family so to speak.

One word , STUNNING !

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Lucky Guy to have those... as you say they look new... I have always loved those lugs too, particularly those on the snare. One of my drum teachers had that same kit but with the 22"..

Nice

Cheers

John

You are fortunate to own that beautiful Shelly Manne set. l Have the same set dimension wise in a 1963 Black Diamond Pearl original wrap. These drums were as pristine as pristine could be when got them. I don't know if the Henry Adler store drum heads on all of the drums are original or if they are replacements that are several decades old, but in great playing condition. I downsized my drum collection this past summer. One of the sets that sold imediately for my asking price was a 1965 leedy Shelly Manne set with 22-13-16 configuration in Champagne Sparkle. I kept the 1958 or 59 Shelly Manne snare in Pink Glass Glitter that I used with this set. If I were forced to keep only one drum set, it would be the Black Diamond Leedy with the Pink Glass Glitter Shelly Manne snare as a back up.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Those are super clean congrats! Keepers for sure. Do you know if the SM snare is single ply or 3 ply? Were they part of Slingerland by 66 or still their own entity? Gotta agree on the lugs. Such a cool design! Have fun with them.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
