1966 Slingerland Gold Satin Flame 12, 12, 16, 20 with matching 3 ply Artist. All 3 ply, maple interior dated April '66.
All original, no extra holes, COB rims, everything works.
Like all satin flames, up close this set looks pretty funky. Lots of scratches / spider webbing like you'd expect. There are some black marks on the toms and FT that I suspect are from cases or tape. I did not try to clean them.
Interiors have the inner ply splitting thing. It's really noticeable on one of the 12s. Not an issue on the other drums. The other 12 has slight ring separation on one side.
The chrome is way above average, no pitting or issues. I did not clean it, but it looks like it would be a simple, fast clean as it's very smooth.
Edges are nice and unaltered. Heads go on easily.
Previous buyer did a fair job of repainting the hoops. some of the paint smudges the inlay on the bottom of one (shown). The inlays are there but were in a couple of pieces so I reapplied them. (That's the only thing I've done to the set.)
Guess I'm making it sound not so great, but I just want the buyer to be aware of what this set is, especially if he's not a Slingerland guy.
They look really cool from a few feet away as the satins always do. I showed a couple of different lighting with and without flash.
I put on new generic single ply heads for looks, but you'd likely want to change the batters on the toms and the snare side head.
I have more pics...Having trouble loading pics here. Set in on ebay. Have many pics there or can email you a bunch. thanks
