That is a sweet kit!

Very nice!!!
I'm thinking of cutting some Mylar I have from another project for the inlay and using double-sided tape for adhesive. What do you think John and others who may have replaced silver inlay? I know I can cut the Mylar to the exact width.
Tape all the way around might make the inlay a little "proud", lift it above the channel sides. I'd just tack the ends at the joins with a dab of contact cement.
Super fantastic amazing kit!

After a few days of letting the black lacquer dry on the original blue hoop, its time for an update. I used double-sided tape in the 1/2" groove upon which I applied a 1/2" strip of Mylar that I cut from stock. Thanks for the tip DownTownFarmer about the tape. I found some really thin tape which doesn't lift the Mylar above the channels.
I placed both hoops (the original '67 issue and the newly painted wrapped hoop) side by side for comparison. I think it came out pretty close. The lacquer's sheen is a close match to the original paint and the Mylar a close match to the silver tape that Ludwig used at the time.
The "SpeedMaster" pedal is original issue with the Club Date. Just a little of the red paint flaking off. I would never use it though as the leather strap is 48 years old and will likely snap after a few good kicks :)
The other photo is the hardware pack all cleaned up! Cymbal stand, Spur-Lock Hi-hat, Bass Ride Cymbal arm, throne, snare stand and the wood-block holder/stick holder that attached to the bass hoop. The wood-block holder is missing one of the little screw-in piers that hold the actual block. Over-all, I'm pretty pleased with the condition. Some very minor scratches here and there but all really nice. I really like that old stool, I cleaned and polished the adjusting bolt for height and added lithium to the threads for ease of adjustment and to prevent seizing. The vinyl is like new with no rips, tears or noticeable wear.
Cheers!

Here's a pic of the 16" crash stamp that came with a '67 Club Date kit I'm restoring at present. These were made by Paiste in Germany. Found the kit with the 16" and 14" hats with the same stamp. Anyone know how long Ludwig/Paiste worked together to produce "Standard" cymbals for Ludwig kits? there was no 20 or 22" ride, so im wondering if it was issued with the kit or was an ad on?
cheers!

Can't help you with the cymbal but that's a heck of a find Kelly, congrats.

I think the German made Ludwig standards were from '60-"64. They continued to make then until the late 60's with a Switzerland made logo.

Thanks Mike!
These were made in the Paiste, Germany factory?
Finished assembling the 20". Put a new Evans Emad Level 2 360 batter on it.
Booms real nice :) Front resonant head is original, pics to follow.
Date stamp clear and bright, badge tight and right with the nice little factory pinch visible.
