1967 Ludwig Super Classic kit. MINT. what is the value? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

I have a question:

What is a MINT 1967 Ludwig Super Classic kit in blue sparkle worth? Barely played, sat in boxes & looks brand new? Chrome mint, shells mint, finish mint.

This comes with the throne, cowbell, Speed King BD pedal, HH stand & 1966 Blue sparkle matching Pioneer 6 lug snare & WFL stand(also mint) & Ludwig suit case. 22,13,16. all original heads as well.

I appreciate all feedback.

Thanks!

A truly mint and complete 1967 SC would include a complete hardware package and a matching Supraphonic snare drum. What you've described is a "shell pack" with some hardware and a snare drum that is separate. The suitcase Pioneer and stand are not part of a SC.

Blue sparkle may be THE most-common sparkle finish of them all...so it's not rare.

SC size drums are not (currently) at the top of the heap in terms of desirability, either.

That being said, if the drums are as nice as you describe, then it wouldn't surprise me if you could get $2K+ for them (on a good day) in the current market.

I need to see detailed pictures before I'll say anything more about them.

It would certainly surprise me!

Location also matters a LOT! In Portland, I couldn't get more than $650 for my 13/16/22 blue sparkle 1966 kit. I sold it with a DW5000 pedal and original snare stand, too!

Research the market you're going to sell it in (eBay, craigslist, whatever...), and price it accordingly. There isn't some reference or book that standardizes appraisal values for vintage kits--it's a case-by-case basis.

...with that said, post some pics!

You're probably right. I really need to stick to my new policy of NOT giving out any numbers when someone asks for a value. There's really no point in it for the reasons you describe. It really is a case-by-case basis.

Best thing is is I'm NOT selling them. I actually am the 3rd person to own the kit & I now know it's history. No value on something that cool. But I was just wondering regardless.

Glad you got it, & would love to see them. As far as value goes, forget about it--you just got 'em & aren't sellin', so who cares? Enjoy......marko

Truth is, O-lugs wasn't that far off the mark in his valuation. Condition is everything. Glad to hear you're going to give them a good home and that they'll be played as intended. I just got back from a three hour rehearsal session. I'm high as a kite just from playing. (No drink, no weed... sober as a judge.) Drums are a powerful healing and fun thing.

Enjoy yours...

John

Too many great drums to list here!
