1968 Ludwig Champagne Sparkle Kit Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

Now that I have them all cleaned up, headed, and refurbished, thought I would show some proper pics of the set. I am thrilled to own it and playing it tomorrow night on a gig for the first time.

All the drums sound great. Thought it might be a odd combo with a 14" and 18" floor tom but it is fine. I could actually use one or the other as a single floor tom set up, but they sound good together. 14"x24" Bass, 9"x13" tom, Jazz fest snare.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Wow....just wow...very nice...

I feel the need to have a glass of French Champagne after viewing that!

After lots and lots of thinking....I'm starting to think that a 24" BD is the perfect all round BD size..............

Thanks guy 's. I spent three solid days on those. Every screw came apart. Then got the 18" batter in Tuesday. I like the 24" too if you have enough stage room.

Or room period. It gets a nice solid low thump. I like 22" also. If that 24" was a six ply Ludwig I would have to think twice about lugging it around. My 1980 six ply Ludwigs are heavy and I haven't taken them out to a gig in over twenty years. They stay set up at home.

Very jealous.

I dig the tiger skin drum throne, too.

That looks absolutely fantastic vibes! You know, some of us were discuss a while back that it seems to be a little difficult to tube a 14 and 16 tom together as you have to find that sweet spot between getting the 14 high enough to generate decent separation in pitch between the 14 and 16, but not so high as to change the timbre of the 14. I believe you have solved that problem!
