I just purchased a ludwug jazzette off my drum teacher. The sizes are 18,12,14 and a 14 inch slingerland student model 1964 snare. The drums are finised in natural maple i paid 2,000 but a friend at a drum shop in town said they could be worth up to 4,000 due to the natural maple finish anyone here have any knowledge about the jazzette? Thanks alot.

Hi i will put pics up later but here is more info.
Bass -12x18 serial- 677473
tom - 8x12 serial- 677809
Floor- 14x14 serial- 677423
snare- Slingerland Student-serial- 25386
The drums are finished in natural maple my teacher is 80 years old and pulled this kit out of the closet one day and i really wanted a jazz kit so bought it. I only recently found out it was a jazzette i would like info on how rare and the worth of this kit. I dont want to sell it because it sounds awesome i am just curious about the jazzette drums.
There is one on Ebay that went up to $3400 and then did not hit the reserve. It just sold for $3600
So, if yours is in better condition, then there is a chance it is worth more, but it takes someone with the cash in hand to prove that the market is not soft at the moment.
Also, this will be the third one that I have seen (heard of) now. I met a guy at the Chicago Drum Show that has a jazzette in natural maple and he also ordered a 2nd 18" bass drum and 14" floor tom.
So to make it official, lets see some photos!
David
PLEASE post as many detailed photos as you can! I had hoped that some Jazzettes would be making their way back into the light of day!
I'm really looking forward to some photos!
...oh...and, YES! IF it's a legit Jazzette, then it's valuable.

Make sure the bass drum is a 12x18. That's what makes a jazzette well a jazzette. Looking foward to the photos.
johnf - welcome to the forum. I think you may be the gentleman that called me (Bill from Classic Vintage Drums) the other day, and we talked about this set. Congratulations on buying them, and I hope to see some pics soon!
lol! Everybody's here! :) This is the "unofficial" Jazzette website!

Hi here are some pics of the 1969 Jazzette, Special thanks to Bill from Classic Vintage Drums for convincing me to buy the drums.
Bass 12x18-677473- stamped jan 30 1969
Tom 8x12-677809- stamped jan 27 1969
Floor 14x14-677423- No stamp i assume it faded
Modifications- The drums dont have the baseball bat type muffler knobs they have the more round button type looking knobs. The bass drum was fitted with Rogers bass spurs. The weird thing is that no holes for where the standard jazzette spurs would be are in the drum. The drum would have had to have been recieved without any drilling for bass spurs and then the rogers spurs were added. The close serial numbers make me believe it is a real jazzette bass drum. The original heads i took of were stamped with the logo of The Proffessional Drum Shop in Hollywood, California. The Drummer i bought these from is originally from Los Angeles, and is know in his early 80,s. Bill from Clasic Vintage Drums told me this kit could have been a special order for an endorsee who had the extra work done at this shop which was known for doing custom work.Anyway I hope it is real Jazzette and enjoy the pics

WOW!!! Those are absolutely stunning. That is possibly the nicest Jazzette kit I've ever seen....you did very well at $2000. Natural maple Ludwigs from the 60's usually have a lot of chips in the finish by now, but these are very clean. Are the interiors all natural maple as well? Thanks for sharing...what an amazing find.
