Am I missing something here?? A 1969 for under $900?? Could this possibly be some kind of Jr/entry level kit? or is it an insane bargain that I will regret not jumping on? What to do!!?

The blue/olive badges arent the ones ,I would go for a set with Keystone badges. But thats just me.Plus he is keeping the hardware...and snare......... .See what the professionals say,I am just a rookie here. Vati

The keystone badges will have more value, but you aren't going to go wrong with those drums. They will sound great. I have a similar set and wouldn't sell them. I look at it this way, is it a deal of a lifetime - no. But it's not a bad deal either if it is what you want. Just my two cents.

that's not a bad kit, it will play well i think 750 would be a steal i have a nice clear re ring holly wood and it sound as good as the keystone badges as they are same drums just different badges as Mark says nice color and great sounding kit good luck gary

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I thought 69's had keystone Badges? Mine do. :2Cents:

It would play very well and be a nice kit to have. Price isn't too bad but I think $750 (as mentioned) is better.

Shawn M--

'69 was definately a year of transition. I've seen both the keystones and the B/Os on 1969 clear interior Ludwig drums.

As for price, I agree with most of the comments above. It just comes down to how bad you want them and what you can afford.

BTW -- has anyone priced the new Ludwig "Legacy" stuff? IMO buying good vintage stuff at its current market price is a much better way to go. And there is a LOT of it out there! And I don't think my opinion is too biased...

I have the same set up, except the toms are mid 60s. The 69 kick sounds killer, and I love the SBP finish as well. Agreed that the keystone is more desirable from collectors' standpoint, but as far as a quality kit goes, you can't go wrong with this one in my opinion. Worth the money I think, but yes, $750 would be better.

Just as an aside - if one were shopping for a new Ludwig kit back in 69, and they'd had the choice of the old style badge, and the brand new blue/olive badge...Coffee Break2

Here's the problem with that... BACK then, as a kid, I would have wanted the new badges. But, IF I knew then what I know now... I would have wanted the keystone badges... :)
