I saw this kit in the CL ad. It's not that far from me, I think the price is to high due to the shrinkage of the wrap and only 3 drums.

I believe by 1970 Ludwig was no longer putting the wrap on before the plywood was bent so the fact that it is not "tucked" is not evidence of a re-wrap. So says The Ludwig Book. So says my limited experience.

$700 would be a great buy to me,

$800 would be pretty good,

$1000 only if I was really keen.

But other people will have different price levels in their heads. I don't know exactly where gold sparkle sits in the hierarchy of desirable colors.

zenstat is correct. the wrap is not usually tucked in the shell after 68. don't see alot of blue olive era clubdates. very cool! get 'em if you can..

Think I will pick it up, I believe it's all original. The wrap on the floor that is shrunk a little doesn't really bother me as long as it's the original wrap, which I believe it is. Plus I like the fact that they are all stamped the same date...

Nice looking kit. Looks like your tension rod will be over the wrap separation and won't be that noticeable. Looks like a little fix is needed on that bearing edge though.

I moved 2 club dates kits in 2011 (moved a 3rd, but that was one I moved before fixing it up, so I won't include it in this conversation). One of them came as part of a large lot of drums (bought out a music store) and the other came out of a garage in SE Kansas. Both needed a lot of work, but didn't have to rewrap either.

The first one was a gold sparkle 71 set. Other than the wrap, it was very similar to what you're showing us. For what it's worth, I fixed or replaced what was broken, repaired some wrap seem issues, and gave them a thorough detailing. I moved them quickly at $750.

The second set was champagne sparkle (always my favorite!) and a little older: 65 on the bass and 8x12 (which had nickel hardware), and 66 on the 14x14 (which had chrome hardware). I did round up and change out the hardware on the 14x14, and other than that, all this one took was a thorough detailing. This set also moved very quickly at $850.

This looks like a good set to pick up... the issues you've mentioned are not a big deal, IMO.

I'd think champagne wrap is at least in the top 3 of most desired wraps. Bring $700 cash with you when you look in person. If everything is ok with you offer that. Hard for anyone to resist. Good luck. Those look nice.
