Actually, ugly is too harsh a word.

I think different would describe it all much better, as always "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I've always liked WMP, even after it has mellowed... but my wife thinks it's ugly either way.

I wondered about the denim material as too its quality, thickness, etc., as there is a lot of denim out there. But Wranglers, huh? Do you suppose the finish had a greater appeal to the Country-Western and Country-Rock crowd?

Well, it sounds like it would be fairly easy to counterfeit one of these sets. A visit to the fabric store would be much cheaper than ordering a pearl wrap from Precision or JamminSams.

You're right on that one. And my wife likes the idea, and I've found the more I've kept her involved in my drums the more overall freedon I have with them (one of those simple lessons learned while spending 34+ years married to the same woman!). :)

So, not that we would counterfeit one, but we are toying with the idea of making a reproduction set...

Oops I spelled slingerland wrong?? anyway it would be a little more effort than you think first you would need to be familiar with the way it was wrapped and then to get the correct thickness slingerland used, also this wrap had real pockets on the toms. so you would have to have an example of this kit in front of you. and since they where a dismal failure to start with, it would be big investment for dismal returns. I personally like them myself. I had a bud who had an entire kit and an artist snare drum to boot.

That's no longer the deep Blue denim that I recall.

(for any of you guys who are doing a repro).. some tips..

Make sure that you measure your "inside leg" before selecting the Bass drum size, and don't forget the "Zip up" stick bag for the floor tom.

Any denim left over, you can use for a Buddy Rich Neru jacket..

Hi, I'm looking at a set of the denim Slingerlands tonight that are in possession of the original owner. He has all 5 matching pieces with original hardware, heads, pedal, and hi hat. How much should I offer him?

with what info we have to go on, if your getting the snare drum which will be an artist model. + hardware, snare stand, cymbals stand, hihat stand bass drum pedal, good condition under $1000.00 is a good deal.try $850.00 see how that goes?

There was a 5 piece set for sale like a year ago around this area...The Snare was a COB though...He wanted $500.00 and I passed...I should have known...
