Hello out there.*I am a newbie here.Need some info on my 1975 0r 1977 set of Westburys. Yes I know most are garbage..*but does the age of these make them less of a garbage kit ? Does anyone out there know when they first started to produce Westbury ?

Pearl made Westbury. They also made other names in the 60's & 70's for export. They stopped doing this inthe mid 70's. I have a Westbury chrome snare that I bought at Manny's in NYC in 1974. I couldn't afford any of the American snares, and the typical cheap Japanese ones were horrible. The owner told me it was made by Pearl, and showed me a Pearl one, and it was identical. Back then I thought all Japanese stuff was inferior, but this snare looked and sounded as good as any snare on the market. I paid $75, and it looks and sounds as good as any snare. You can see a video of one on youtube called "Pearl COB snare approx. 1974". If you want a photo of mine contact me.
