Dear Vintage Drum Folk,

I bought a new Ludwig muffler for my Acrolite Reissue, had the drum drilled identically to my 80s Black Beauty, only to find that the frame and felt pad are quite different on the current model.

The new muffler sits higher, doesn't sit flush against the head when engaged, the felt pad is thinner, and the knob loosens to the point of rattling.

My 1980s BB's muffler is actually adhered to the shell, sits far away from the head when not engaged, and the screw is solid (if a little stiff).

So, it's the 1980s chunky felt muffler with the mounting screw ON TOP.
