1982 Tama Imperialstar Last viewed: 34 minutes ago

Curious to see if anyone out there might know what the value is of a good condition 1982 jet black Tama Imperialstar with 6", 8", 10", 12", 13" toms and a 16" floor tom and a 22' bass. I still love the steel snare so I'm going to keep it for various situations. I'm the original owner and have just recently purchased a 7 piece Tama Superstar and love it! Would like to sell so any insite would be helpful. Houston, TX area.

Cool kit- if I'm not mistaken, this would cover some of the sizes and be the correct vintage for Stewart Copeland's famous kit with the Police... (I think his was an ice blue color maybe??)

Anyway, a bit of research on your part to make it as close to his as possible could yield better profits; the 'extra' drums could be sold as orphans on eBay or wherever...

Just my 2cents

Maybe it was just because they sound great?

It is interesting that Neil had Slingerlands before the famous "red kit" which were of course the Tamas (COW I think??). Remember that picture of him on the raft in the lake playing them? He did keep his Slingerland "student model" snare drum long into the Tamas. I remember a story from Joe Montineri telling me what a crummy sounding snare it was, but he loved it! Joe sent Neil snare drums but Neil sent them back!LoLoLoLo

Now I think he is older and wiser and plays some decent snares (DW these days is it?)

That red Tama kit was given away... I remember a raffle in Modern Drummer a long time ago. Back when he got the pink Ludwigs. I wonder where that kit is now...

The god ol' days.
