I have been looking for a 6.5 Ludwig Supraphonic for a while. I wanted an older model and I came across this one today. I am thinking its going to fall into the 1971-2 model as it has no serial number but still has the pointy B/O badge. Anyone know more about it. I am listening....

I think that your snare drum may be a little older than that, like 1970, according

to the vintagedrumguide.com Ludwig serial number guide for B/O badges.

The serial numbers were out of sequence or unnumbered at that time.

Thanks for the reply. I paid 140 for it. I need to knock a bit of rust off it. It needs a cleaning but operates fine. I look forward to hammering away on it. It's def not a brass version of the drum. I was guessing 71 -72. 70 is even better so I'll take it.

Not too many in that size for that price. Good deal I would think.

$150 is an awesome deal for that snare ! As john rutsey put it, you don't see too many

for that price. Minor rust and clean up is half the fun ! Enjoy it !

I suggest that your drum is 1973 or newer. This is based upon the circle R trademark registration symbol on the badge and the black faced P-85 throw off with two holes for the snare cord. The badge with the circle R was not introduced until around 1972 and the two hole throw did not appear until around 1973. Your throw has been modified a little to accommodate the screws.
