Yeah, but the 18 kit is worth 3-4 times what the 20" kit is...

Seems to be a split decision at this forum and dfo.

For just soloing around alone between the drums themselves does the 18" "flow" better while rolling around between toms and bass drum

Depends. You talking real world usability, or dollar value collectability?

The 20" is a more usable, do anything drum. Bop kit snobs'd be depressed to find how many of their idols used 20's as often as not. They weren't ocd on the details like people are now. The 18's obviously worth more, because of those nutcases...... Tony probably wasn't bothered by this set. Floor tom looks bigger then the bass drum.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Easy choice - grab the 18. It will be easy for you to replace the 20 down the road, but this may be your last shot at a matching 18, the way the prices on those are going through the roof.

You know, my favorite sizes have gotten to be 12/16/20. Uber collectable? No. Incredibly useful for any gig? Yes. On mine, the rare-ity is in the color.....

I have had zero experience with a 20" kick but have a Club Date I am going to be able to play when I get 8 trods to put the other head on it. I may just get some generic tension rods so I can play it for now. I do have a jazz kit with a 18" I have performed on quite a bit and it sounds pretty darn good. I can get a decent low tuning on it and mic'ed up is fine in any venue. Also have a 16"x18" floor tom conversion that thumps pretty good. Will see how the 20" sounds soon.

The 18 kit is a complete perfect rewrap. Not original. The guy wants too much i think considering it had exra holes repaired
