3 line Slingy. Brass? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I'm looking at a 3 line Slingy metal snare. The ad says 7x14, but I'm thinking 6.5x14. This would be a brass shell, right? Black and silver Niles badge.

It would be brass if it has a Niles badge.

There were import drums made in the 80's and 90's

that had 3 lines but were steel shells.

If it's a Niles drum with 3 lines it would be brass.

The guy emailed me and said it wasn't brass. Must not have been a Niles badge. It was hard to tell. Oh well....

If it's got three lines and a Niles badge, the odds are generally pretty darn good it's brass. Knowing this, I bought a 6.5" x 14" Niles-badged TDR that the seller thought "wasn't brass". Sure enough, it's brass.

Like Stevo pointed out, there are import Slingerland steel shells with three lines from the 80s and 90s, and a lot of 'em seem to be on eBay lately. These import drums have silver & black badges kinda similar to the familiar Niles badge, but with a few noticeable differences like lack of a city name or a larger/lower serial number field.
