Pete Townshend coined the word "Power Pop" to descibe the Who. What charts do you think all these hits were on? Pop is a form, much like haiku - I would have expected most musicians to understand that.

The point here is POP music is just that ... what is popular of the day that pushes the creative and technological envelope. Rock and Roll, Classical, Jazz, whatever.
