ive got a SRK from the 40's. 14x24, 9x13, 16x16. all drums are virgin. no extra holes were ever drilled.

That's a neat kit. What was used to hold the ride tom, back in the day?

ahh good point. i noticed two chrome "buttons" at the wrap seem on my rack tom. i always thought their purpose was to keep the wrap tight. after doing some research i saw other drums that had the same two "buttons". and sitting underneath the "buttons" was a mount. i don't have a mount. the kit didn't come with one. ....that got me thinking.
so i took the head off the bass drum and inspect the shell to see if there was ever any holes drilled for a tom holder bracket. if that were the case it meant the wrap was not original. after checking it out, there was no holes drilled. which meant the wrap is original but it also means this kit must be an "orphan kit". ??????? now i have to find out. off to the shop to tear these drums down hahaha
