50s kent drums on cl help needed Last viewed: 18 hours ago

Loading...

Found these 2 kent drums on cl for 75. Anyone think they are worth buying? The rack Tom looks like You can only tune it on the one side. Any info would be great before I spend the money on them. If I get a hold of the drums I have seen blue sparkle kent floor toms around. Doesn't seem like it would be to hard to peice it into a 3 pc kit.

Thanks

Jeff

I've spent some time tonight researching how to tune these drums. Can you only tune them from one side Since they are equipped with the eyelet lugs? If that is the case that's really going to limit the tuning abilities.

you are correct. those are single tension drums. not the end of the world. but, it does allow you to only tune both heads at one time. some don't dig that. years ago, many drums were like that however.

Hey thanks for the response. On my other kent set with the "modern lugs" I use Aquarian vintage thin tops and remo dip reso. If anyone else has a head combination recomendation for the eyelet lug set up please let me know or I will probably go with the same set up if I buy these. Aquarian vintage tops and remo dip clear resonant sides.

Attached is a pic of my Kent's that I scored off eBay about 5 yrs ago. Kent was my first set when I was 11 and I sold it when acquiring my 60s slingerland in 97... I just had to buy another set after missing them when I got older
